IDF Prepares to Complete Destruction of Hezbollah Beaufort Underground Complex

The IDF is preparing to complete the destruction of a strategic Hezbollah underground complex in the Beaufort area of southern Lebanon. The operation, led by the 36th Division, is considered a major achievement in the campaign and is being executed under high alert for potential escalation.
Soldiers from the elite Egoz, Maglan, and Yahalom units have spent recent weeks operating inside the complex under heavy censorship, executing complex missions under constant threat.
Strategic Importance of the Beaufort Complex
The Beaufort stronghold is recognized as one of Hezbollah's three largest and most critical operational sectors, alongside the Dahiyeh district in Beirut and the Beqaa Valley. The IDF notes that treatment of most of these sectors is nearing completion. Due to the high strategic value of this southern Lebanon stronghold, Hezbollah was prepared to fight fiercely for it, making the final demolition phase highly sensitive.
Preventing Escalation and Operational Clarity
The recent military publication detailing the clearing of the Ali Taher ridge—which exposed the inner workings of the underground site—was aimed at establishing clear facts on the ground and preventing miscalculations by adversaries across the border.
Army officials clarified:
"There are no active terrorists remaining in the tunnels, nor are there any Iranians present."
Israel maintains that it will continue to respect existing understandings. Once the underground infrastructure in the area is fully neutralized, IDF forces are expected to deploy along the designated "yellow line" and refrain from any actions that could deteriorate the security situation.
