Hyundai Motor America announced a major recall affecting approximately 294,000 vehicles in the United States due to a safety defect in the seat belt anchor mechanism. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the issue stems from a faulty connection between the anchor and the seat structure.

As a result, during emergency braking or a collision, the anchor may detach, preventing the seat belt system from properly restraining the occupant and significantly increasing the risk of injury. The recall includes four popular models: the Hyundai Ioniq 6, Hyundai Santa Fe, Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid, and the Genesis G90 luxury model.

At this stage, the recall has been officially announced only in the US market. No corresponding announcement has been made in Europe or Israel yet, though this may change depending on future updates from the manufacturer, local importers, or transportation authorities.

Models such as the Ioniq 6, Santa Fe, and Genesis G90 are marketed and sold in Israel. If it turns out that the manufacturing defect is not limited solely to the US production line but affects global assembly lines exporting to Europe and Israel as well, the Ministry of Transport and local importer Colmobil may issue a similar recall later.
