US Ambassador Meets Bereaved Families and MK on West Bank Security

US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee met with MK Ohad Tal and representatives of the "Habaita Forum" on security, bereavement, and bilateral relations. The discussions focused heavily on the security situation in Judea and Samaria.

The meeting was attended by Sima Sherman and her parents, American citizens who have experienced double tragedy due to terror attacks. The gathering took place following the death of Yehuda Shmuel Sherman, son of Yehoshua, who was murdered in a terror attack near Shuva Yisrael roughly six months ago. Yehuda's uncle, Alan Beer, was also previously killed in a terror attack.

Security Concerns and Oslo Accords Criticized

During the discussion, MK Tal and the family members presented their position that dividing control in Judea and Samaria creates a significant security risk for Israel. They argued that Israel must maintain full security control to prevent the development of terror infrastructure threatening Israeli communities.

"The State of Israel must control the entire area," the family told Ambassador Huckabee. "Otherwise, a terror state will arise in Judea and Samaria and bring the events of October 7 upon us once again."

The meeting also touched upon allegations of settler violence. MK Tal claimed that framing the phenomenon in its current light creates a distorted picture of reality while ignoring the scope of Palestinian terrorism and harm to Israeli citizens.

Call for Comprehensive Control

Yehoshua Sherman stated after the meeting that as a family of American citizens who paid the ultimate price, they emphasized that relying on past security concepts is no longer viable. MK Tal echoed these sentiments, stressing the importance of presenting the reality on the ground and advocating for complete Israeli presence as the basis for security and stability.
