Yemeni Houthis Claim Downing of Saudi Fighter Jet
Yemeni Houthi rebels claimed they shot down a Saudi fighter jet, releasing video footage and photos showing burning wreckage and armed fighters standing near a Saudi flag.
Yemeni Houthi military spokespersons released a video and photographs on Wednesday claiming to document the interception of a Saudi fighter jet. Broadcasted via the Al-Masirah channel, the footage depicts a targeting system locking onto a target followed by burning wreckage. Additional images show six armed individuals standing over aircraft debris bearing the Saudi flag.
However, the footage has not been independently verified, and Saudi Arabia has not yet issued a response to the claim. The Houthi rebels insist they successfully downed an F-15 fighter jet belonging to the Royal Saudi Air Force.
"We are currently releasing documentation showing the downing of the aircraft and its remains," the Houthi military media stated officially. The video displays the silhouette of an aircraft locking into a green crosshair followed by a missile launch and burning debris.
