Despite the Ministry of Construction and Housing delaying the signing of emergency regulations to bring in foreign construction companies, ministry professionals continue to advance the initiative behind the scenes. Last week, a closed-door conference was held in Tel Aviv for international trade attachés to present business opportunities in Israel's residential construction sector.

Contradiction in Ministry Policy

There is a clear discrepancy between the political level and the professional staff. While Minister Haim Katz has yet to sign the regulation extending the framework for foreign contractors, senior ministry officials organized a private briefing to attract international firms. Israeli contractors criticized the event as a hurried maneuver, noting that the exact location was concealed until registration was approved.

High-Level Attendance and Official Response

Notable figures attended the conference, including Ministry Director-General Yehuda Morgenstern and Strategic Planning Director Michal Aran.

"The conference was held as part of the staff work promoted by the Ministry of Construction and Housing in accordance with the government's decision, aiming to expand cooperation with international business entities," stated the office of Minister Haim Katz.

Meanwhile, political tensions recently eased after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu intervened in a dispute between Katz and acting Land Authority head Yehuda Eliyahu, leading to an extension of Eliyahu's temporary tenure.
