The "255 Hostages" organization and their families urged the change bloc parties' action team on Wednesday to include the rehabilitation of captive survivors in their joint principles document. The appeal comes amid ongoing political negotiations aimed at securing long-term support for returning hostages and fallen families.
In a letter sent by organization CEO Mor Peretz to action team members, including Knesset members Orit Farkash-Hacohen, Ram Shefa, and Oded Forer, a list of political and legislative demands was presented. The central demand asks to recognize hostage families as victims of hostile acts and to guarantee a permanent rehabilitation envelope in health, employment, and education.
Peretz clarified in her appeal that treating survivors is a national responsibility that must receive clear and binding expression. "Almost three years since October 7, it is clear that kidnapping is not an event that ends with a return from captivity," the CEO noted, adding that many families lack sufficient government response to psychological terror.
The organization's demand aims to compel public officials to take practical action and include responses for secondary and tertiary relatives. The 255 organization expects the principles document to include a commitment that legislative activity on the matter will be promoted immediately.
