The Jerusalem District Attorney's Office has filed an indictment in the city's District Court against a Jerusalem resident for the attempted murder of his wife with a utility knife, alongside multiple counts of violence and threats. The prosecution has requested that the defendant remain in custody until the conclusion of legal proceedings.

According to the indictment filed by Adv. Dikla Levi-Damri, the defendant exhibited pathological jealousy throughout their marriage, criticizing his wife's appearance and repeatedly assaulting her. He had previously threatened that if they were to separate, he would disfigure her face to ensure she could never marry again.

Details of the abuse include an incident during a hotel vacation where the defendant strangled and struck his wife. He subsequently locked her in their home and confiscated her phones to prevent her from calling for help. The following day, he again strangled her and held a knife to her face, threatening to leave permanent scars.

Two days later, after the woman had sought refuge with her family, the defendant arrived at their home under the guise of reconciliation. After briefly stepping out to his car, he returned with the intent to kill. He lunged at his wife and slashed her face with a utility knife, stating he would rather kill her than see her marry another man.

«The victim suffered deep lacerations to her face, neck, and hands, resulting in life-threatening injuries,» the indictment notes.

She was rushed to the hospital, where she received emergency life-saving treatment, including blood and plasma transfusions. The defendant faces charges of attempted murder, causing grievous bodily harm under aggravating circumstances, and assault. The case was investigated by the Hebron police.
