Hilary Duff and Mandy Moore Jet Off to Mexico Amid Mom Group Drama
Hilary Duff and Mandy Moore jetted off to Mexico for a stylish girls' trip, months after being linked to the toxic moms drama sparked by Ashley Tisdale.
Months after the toxic moms controversy that allegedly made Ashley Tisdale feel like she was back in high school, Hilary Duff and Mandy Moore—whose names were linked to the controversial group—packed their bags and headed for a stylish girls' getaway in Mexico alongside other friends.
Duff, 39, took to Instagram over the weekend to share a series of photos from the luxury resort One&Only Mandarina in Mexico, captioning the post: "The group chat made it to the jungle." Alongside Moore, 42, the trip included food influencer Gaby Dalkin, makeup artist Kelsey Deenihan Fisher, and other close friends. The snapshots capture the group enjoying beach outings, spa treatments, and cocktails while soaking in the breathtaking Mexican landscapes.
The Drama Behind the Group Chat
This photogenic vacation and Duff's cheeky reference to the group chat dredge up the drama from earlier this year. Ashley Tisdale, star of High School Musical, caused a major stir when she revealed she had decided to quit an exclusive mothers' group. According to Tisdale, what started as a friendly connection among women who met through their children gradually morphed into a painful experience. She felt excluded from gatherings and often discovered on social media that her peers had hung out without her.
"It brought back an unpleasant feeling I thought I had left behind years ago," the actress wrote at the time. "Maybe I'm not cool enough? Suddenly, I was back in high school."
Tisdale shared that members of the circle would even spin off into separate chat groups, leaving her feeling unwanted. Ultimately, she decided to distance herself from the clique and purge what she defined as toxic friendships from her life.
Denials and Public Backlash
Although Tisdale never explicitly named the women involved, social media sleuths quickly connected the dots. Old photographs of her alongside Duff, Moore, and Meghan Trainor, combined with the fact that she unfollowed some of them on Instagram, sparked speculation pointing right to them. However, Tisdale's representative firmly denied the claims, clarifying that her remarks were not directed at the three stars.
The saga continued in February when Duff addressed the controversy on the Call Her Daddy podcast, admitting she was deeply hurt by the speculation. "I felt really sad. I was pretty shocked," she confessed, adding, "It sucks to read something that is just not true." Her husband, musician Matthew Koma, quickly jumped to his wife's defense, posting a biting remark aimed at Tisdale suggesting that someone overly self-centered shouldn't be surprised when other mothers choose to focus on their children.
Now, Duff and Moore are putting their close bond on full display during this Mexican retreat, and fans couldn't help but notice the implicit jab, especially since Tisdale was once again left out of the picture. Comments on the posts ranged from "Ashley Tisdale is fuming behind her phone screen right now" to "Ashley Tisdale is dying of jealousy."
