Drivers on Highway 1 on Friday experienced a dramatic scene involving sirens, police motorcyclists, and officers with drawn weapons during a high-speed pursuit of a 17-year-old illegal resident. The teenager allegedly fled from law enforcement in a stolen vehicle and was eventually apprehended after crashing into a bus.

During routine enforcement activities, officers received a report from the Harel station regarding a vehicle suspected of being stolen that was fleeing toward Highway 1. Police from the Zion district rushed to Highway 1 to set up roadblocks to intercept the suspect, before spotting the fleeing driver colliding with a bus near the Sacharov Interchange. Officers, alongside personnel from the Harel station and Jerusalem Yasam tactical units, detained and handcuffed the suspect.

An initial investigation revealed that the 17-year-old driver is an undocumented resident from Hebron who was driving a suspected stolen vehicle. During a subsequent search, police found pepper spray in his possession. The suspect was arrested and transferred for questioning by investigators at the Beit Shemesh police station.
