The Presidential Medal for Civilian Valor is considered the highest civilian bravery award in Israel. It was established by the president following October 7 to honor citizens who acted with exceptional heroism, risking their lives out of mutual responsibility and a desire to save human lives.
The award is presented following a review of cases and upon the recommendation of an advisory committee appointed by the president. Since its inception, the medal has been awarded to Israelis who displayed bravery during the October 7 events in the Gaza envelope and other incidents.
The ceremony will be held on Thursday at 3:30 PM at the President's Residence in Jerusalem.
