Heineken is urging pubs and bars in the United Kingdom to adapt to the rising wave of weight-loss drugs or risk losing customers and revenue. According to a company presentation seen by Reuters, this marks a rare admission by a major alcohol producer that these medications pose a threat to beer sales. The presentation warns that drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy by Novo Nordisk reduce the desire to drink, curbing sales of beer and cider.

Heineken recommends that pubs promote half-pints, low-alcohol or alcohol-free drinks, and pair beverages with smaller portions. Research shows that American households with a user of weight-loss drugs spend about 13.5% less on beer monthly compared to households without users. The United Kingdom serves as a core market for Heineken, which operates over 2,000 pubs across the country.
