Renovations at Hebron Cave of the Patriarchs Completed After Months
Renovations at the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron concluded following Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich's decision to revoke local municipal authority, ensuring the site is ready for the upcoming Rosh Hashanah prayers.
Historic work in Hebron has concluded today (Wednesday) as extensive roofing and renovation projects at the Cave of the Patriarchs reached completion following several months of intensive labor. The works were initiated following a decision by Minister of Finance Bezalel Smotrich to cancel the Hebron Agreements and strip the local municipality of its authority over the site.
Speaking at the location, Minister Smotrich stated: "The Cave of the Patriarchs is the first sovereign inheritance of the Jewish people. The place purchased by Abraham from Ephron the Hittite has become a symbol of our sovereignty in the land. This morning, thanks to professional and dedicated work by all parties involved, we have reached the finish line of the roofing and renovation project."
The minister thanked his partners in the initiative, including Minister of Defense Israel Katz, Minister Orit Strock, the OC Central Command, personnel of the Civil Administration, COGAT, and the Construction Division, concluding: "This is a historic closing of the circle. Thanks to our joint effort, starting this coming Rosh Hashanah, masses of the House of Israel will be able to pray here in proper and dignified conditions."
