Hapoel Tel Aviv Faces Unbeaten EuroLeague Leaders Panathinaikos in Athens
Hapoel Tel Aviv faces EuroLeague leaders Panathinaikos in Athens on Friday, seeking a major upset against the undefeated Greek powerhouse.
Hapoel Tel Aviv faces a monumental challenge on Friday (21:15) as they visit Panathinaikos, the undefeated EuroLeague leaders and the only team yet to taste defeat in the competition.
Ranked sixth with a 3-2 record, the Reds arrive in Athens following a victory over Beşiktaş, aiming to pull off an upset against the Greek powerhouse that has started the season with five consecutive wins. Dimitris Itoudis' squad arrived in Athens today and held their final training session ahead of the showdown.
Speaking ahead of the clash, the Greek coach noted: "This is a big game. We know who we are facing. An aggressive team playing great basketball. They put a lot of pressure on the ball. They have different lineups, and when players come off the bench, they are top EuroLeague players."
Reflecting on facing Željko Obradović, Itoudis added: "Tomorrow is a game between Hapoel Tel Aviv and Panathinaikos. A game is a game, and in life, Željko is my older brother."
