Hapoel Jerusalem Crushes Hapoel Holon 92:69 to Open Basketball Season
Hapoel Jerusalem cruised to a 92:69 victory over Hapoel Holon to open the 2026/27 Super League season, powered by a dominant second-half performance under coach Saša Obradović.
Hapoel Jerusalem opened the 2026/27 Super League season on Sunday with an impressive 92:69 victory over its traditional rival Hapoel Holon. A tightly contested first half gave no hint of what was to come after the break, when Saša Obradović's squad shifted into high gear and cruised to a dominant win over an injury-plagued Holon.
Obradović: A Great Win to Start
Winning coach Saša Obradović spoke after the final whistle about his team's performance and the importance of a strong start.
"This is a great win, I want to thank our wonderful fans who cheered for us in the best possible way. It was very important that our Israeli players scored 29 points, we made some improvements, we were solid on offense and did a good job on defense. I am happy with the way we wanted the game to go. We now have a long trip to Spain."
Obradović also addressed team dynamics and the integration of new players, noting that the squad is still evolving.
Holon Looks to Recover
On the losing side, Shahar Amir admitted that Holon is still far from where it wants to be at this stage of the campaign.
"It's a bummer to start the season like this. We wanted it to look different. Unfortunately, we are not ready yet, we've been through injuries, new players are arriving, and the chemistry is not what we wanted it to be. I am sure we will look different in the upcoming games."
Head coach Predrag Krunić echoed similar sentiments, pointing to injuries and roster adjustments as key challenges in the early going.
