Television host Haim Etgar is releasing a new guidebook to help the Israeli public combat the soaring wave of fraud and identity theft. Driven by heavy workloads at the Israel Police and a focus on security threats, citizens are often left without adequate official support against sophisticated scams.
While the elderly and new immigrants remain frequent targets—often facing AI voice-cloning phone scams—younger generations are also falling victim. Scammers are increasingly trapping youth through crypto schemes, financial guru pitches, fake event tickets, and online dating cyber-traps.
To avoid falling prey, Etgar advises following a few golden rules, chief among them being skepticism toward unrealistic financial promises. As he notes, if an offer sounds too good to be true, it almost certainly is not real.
