Guy Zu-Aretz received a surprising phone call: "We want you for an audition"
Beloved host Guy Zu-Aretz recently returned to Israel after two months of filming the reality show "Survivor" and immediately began work on the series "Night Therapy". Yesterday, filming concluded, and the host took a moment to reflect on the journey.
Beloved host Guy Zu-Aretz, who only recently returned to Israel after two months of filming the reality show "Survivor", shared a reflection on Tuesday via Instagram regarding a journey that began in the Philippines and concluded yesterday with the end of filming for the series "Night Therapy".
In his candid post, he recounted how the opportunity arose: "A month and a half into filming 'Survivor' in the Philippines, I received a call from my agent at 11:00 PM. 'Guy, listen, they want you for an audition for the series 'Night Therapy'. It's in two days via Zoom. The director is in Israel, lead actor Yousef Sweid is in Berlin, and you are where you are. I've sent you the scene—go give it your all!'"
Zu-Aretz initially hesitated, overwhelmed by his schedule:
"My friend, wait... you're crazy. I have no time for anything here; I work from morning until night, from tribal council to immunity challenges. I can barely breathe."
He further noted the difficulty of memorizing such a long text on short notice: "It's an 8-page scene; I will never manage to learn this in my life." However, his agent remained persistent, insisting that it was the best series on television.
"When I returned from another day of filming in 40-degree heat and 200 percent humidity, I threw myself onto my bed in the hut, just wanting to sleep and think of nothing," Zu-Aretz described, recalling the turning point. "But something wouldn't let me rest. A feeling started stirring in my gut—an inner voice of opportunity and passion, a new challenge that began to gnaw at me."
He decided to commit: "I have only two days to prepare. Two days with only two hours of sleep a night, digging in and memorizing to arrive ready for the midnight Zoom audition."
With the filming of the second season of "Night Therapy" now complete, Zu-Aretz concluded: "A journey that began two months ago in that hut is one I hold close. I am grateful for the painstaking work with my talented teacher Eran Pesach, the wonderful director and creator Raanan Caspi, and of course, my perfect partner Yousef Sweid. There is much to look forward to."
