Guy Meroz admits on live broadcast: "Orly and I are in a very difficult period, I am to blame"
Guy Meroz arrived at the "The Patriots" studio on the day of his wife Orly Vilnai's 53rd birthday and addressed her with an emotional message amidst a complex period involving health issues and moving house.
Journalist Guy Meroz, a panelist on the TV show "The Patriots" on Channel 14, chose to come to the studio on Tuesday evening instead of celebrating Tu B'Av, the Jewish holiday of love and joy, with his wife Orly Vilnai. Furthermore, Meroz admitted on live broadcast that today is Vilnai's 53rd birthday.
Meroz used the platform to reveal a surprising confession about himself and his wife:
"Today is Tu B'Av, my wife Orly has a birthday today, and we are in a very difficult period... moving house, health, politics. A not-so-simple period."
The veteran journalist, who has led many TV programs with his wife, chose to address her with a moving message on live broadcast and apologize for his actions:
"I want to admit, honey, I am to blame for everything, I take responsibility. It's all me. I promise you until the next birthday. I messed up this birthday to a degree that cannot be described. Give me this year, I will be okay."
This is not the first time Guy Meroz has shared that he and his wife Orly Vilnai, a media personality and social activist, are dealing with gaps between them. Last June, Meroz was a guest on the "Gever Gever" podcast from TOX and spoke with Shay Golden and Shay Amit about the influence that political disagreements have on various relationships, including his marriage.
"It's not simple, I see it at home now. Orly and I once agreed on everything, now we agree on half. For me, what happened to me since Channel 14, it's not my political opinions. In that, I will not change, two states and everything you want. My look at the media... I always knew there was a problem, but now I understand the magnitude of the problem. I missed it in recent years," said Meroz.
Later in his remarks, the journalist admitted that since joining the panel of "The Patriots," he has begun to deal with disagreements with his wife Orly Vilnai, with whom he used to host current affairs programs on Israeli TV channels: "Here I have quite a few frictions with Orly about all sorts of things. I tell her: 'But that's not true! It's not true what they are saying.' I watch the program 'Ulpan Shishi' and I say: 'But that's not true!'"
