Crime Families' "Grenade War": Two Indictments Expected This Week

A development in the "grenade war" case between the Musli and Jarushi crime families: the police have managed to build a solid evidentiary basis against those involved in two incidents out of 18 cases of grenade throwing and shooting at businesses that occurred as part of the violent conflict. It was reported this evening (Saturday) on Channel 13 news that indictments are expected to be filed against the suspects as early as this week.

As part of the investigation, the police carried out a series of arrests of suspects involved in the string of incidents. The investigation reveals that eight of the 18 attacks in the "grenade war" were directed at branches of the "Japanika" restaurant chain owned by businessman Barak Abramov in Kiryat Ono and Givatayim, as well as other businesses in the Sharon region.

About a week ago, in one evening, fragmentation grenades were thrown in southern Tel Aviv, and a short time later in Ness Ziona and Herzliya. There were no casualties, but property damage was caused. Additionally, a grenade was thrown at a store associated with the Musli organization, from which a man was injured.

Due to the sequence of events, the Tel Aviv District Commander decided to transfer the handling of the case to the Central Unit (Yamar). At the same time, the police acted to close four businesses in the wholesale market that were damaged in the explosions, for public safety considerations.

Ness Ziona Mayor Shmuel Boxer addressed the incident:

"This evening an exceptional incident occurred in the city with the throwing of a grenade. I view this with great severity. I spoke with the police and instructed the city's security forces to increase presence. I trust the police to investigate and bring the perpetrators to justice as soon as possible, and we will continue to monitor. Ness Ziona is one of the safest cities in Israel and we will ensure it continues to be so."
