A 15-year-old girl in Guatemala named Yulidy Ischcutozec miraculously woke up and began speaking during her own funeral, eight hours after being declared dead by her father. A dramatic video capturing the event shows the teenager wearing a pink t-shirt sitting up inside her coffin, alive and well, while stunned family members and friends erupt into cheers.
The bizarre sequence of events began when Yulidy fainted while her father, Abraham Ischcutozec, was driving her to a medical center. The father immediately stopped the car and checked his daughter's pulse and breathing. According to his account, he found no pulse and detected no breathing, leading him to declare her dead at the scene early Saturday morning.
Lack of Medical Confirmation and the Funeral Procession
It is important to note that a doctor never confirmed the father's diagnosis, and no official death certificate was issued. Instead, a coffin was purchased, and a funeral service was held by midday in El Jocotote, where mourners had gathered around the home to pay their respects.
At one point, the girl's grieving mother, Lesbia Rios, leaned over the coffin and noticed movement from inside. Speaking to local media, the mother stated that she kept insisting her daughter was alive. As she wept over the casket, relatives opened it further and saw the teenager move, wake up, and suddenly sit up. Shocked relatives rushed to help her out of the coffin as footage of the miraculous awakening spread across social media.
Recovery and the Teenager's Account
Describing her terrifying ordeal, the teenager recounted that her heart began to ache severely and felt heavy before she lost consciousness and fainted. Yulidy expressed her deep gratitude to God and her parents for her survival, noting that her hands were still shaking but she was gradually regaining her strength, describing the incident as a true miracle.
The father explained that he was completely convinced his daughter had passed away after failing to detect breathing or a pulse in her wrists, acknowledging the severe distress of the situation which prevented them from reaching a hospital in time.
