Cloud monitoring platform groundcover acquires Israeli startup Wand in its first-ever deal, integrating automated infrastructure resource management into its Kubernetes monitoring systems.
Cloud monitoring platform groundcover has announced the acquisition of Israeli startup Wand, a developer of automated cloud infrastructure resource management technology. This marks the first acquisition for groundcover, expanding its core operations beyond monitoring and anomaly detection into automated infrastructure modification.
Strategic Expansion and Team Integration
Wand was established in 2023 by Sean Lev-Ran and Shir Moniter, securing approximately $4 million in a seed funding round led by Angular Ventures. Following the transaction, both founders alongside 10 company employees will integrate into groundcover's existing workforce.
groundcover itself was founded in 2021 by Shahar Azulay, CEO and co-founder, and Yehezkel Rabinovich, CTO and co-founder. Serving over 250 enterprise clients, the buyout follows groundcover's recent $100 million funding announcement, bringing its total capital raised to $160 million.
Autonomous Infrastructure Management
groundcover's proprietary system aggregates operational telemetry from cloud software and infrastructure, providing organizations with real-time situational awareness. The platform assists development teams in isolating bottlenecks, diagnosing latency drivers, and auditing system modifications preceding anomalies.
The integration of Wand infuses actionable automation capabilities directly into the telemetry framework. Instead of strictly analyzing infrastructure states, the platform can autonomously execute resource adjustments. For instance, when an AI-driven service triggers computational spikes, resources scale dynamically, contracting as workloads recede.
"Observability has evolved far beyond a tool that helps engineers understand what went wrong," said Shahar Azulay, CEO and co-founder of groundcover.
Wand's technology specifically targets Kubernetes environments, bridging production telemetry with automated infrastructure execution to prevent resource over-provisioning while maintaining strict system performance and availability.
