The debate over Portland's starting lineup continues to generate discussion in the United States, particularly following remarks from Draymond Green regarding comments made by star guard Damian Lillard and rookie head coach.

Draymond Green Warns Over Public Disagreements

Speaking on his podcast, Golden State star Draymond Green raised a red flag regarding the team's public messaging. "Saying that starting Morant and Lillard together doesn't make sense analytically makes complete sense, but airing it publicly is unnecessary," Green noted, pointing out defensive concerns with a smaller backcourt.

"If a player goes out and says something and you think he is wrong, and then the next day you go out and contradict him in the media – that is totally unnecessary," Green added.

Locker Room Dynamics and Preseason Strategy

Green emphasized that managing player trust during the preseason is critical, especially for a first-time head coach. He suggested that internal communication is always preferable to public friction, warning that small cracks in communication can eventually lead to bigger issues within the squad.
