Thousands Rally Near Gaza Border Demanding Renewal of Jewish Settlement

Thousands of people, including ministers and members of the Knesset, took part on Sunday in vehicle convoys from Yad Mordechai junction toward the Gaza border to hold a rally calling for the establishment of Jewish settlement in the northern Gaza Strip. Organizers plan to set up a Sukkot compound near the border and stay overnight.

The demonstration, led by the Nachala movement in collaboration with other right-wing organizations, is being held under the slogan "Choosing Victory - Settling in Gaza." Participants gathered at noon and began moving toward the northern border observation point and the area of the former Nisanit settlement, which was evacuated during the 2005 disengagement. Organizers are demanding that the government promote a civilian presence in the strip, arguing that other political initiatives have collapsed and that long-term security victory can only be achieved through territorial control.

The Vision of Nachala

Nachala movement chair Daniella Weiss stated from the convoy that victory in the war will only be achieved by returning Jewish settlement to the Gaza Strip. "Just as Zionist settlement arose with the determination of 'Tower and Stockade,' so we are doing today," Weiss explained, adding that thousands are setting out with caravans and overnight equipment to "restore Jewish life to Nisanit and all of Gaza."

"Only Jewish settlement will provide security control, victory, and the realization of the Zionist vision," said Zvi Elimelech Sharfstein, co-chair of the movement.

Security Position and International Stance

The demand to renew Jewish settlement in the Gaza Strip, which was evacuated and dismantled in 2005, has grown stronger among right-wing factions since the outbreak of the war. This comes despite widespread international opposition and the official position of the security establishment, which currently rejects the establishment of civilian settlements in combat zones and focuses on achieving military war goals. Toward evening, a central rally with public figures is scheduled to take place at the northern observation point, with family activities continuing through the night.
