UAE Adviser Gargash Warns US-Iran Stalemate Is Unsustainable Amid Transition

UAE Presidential Adviser Anwar Gargash warned that the Middle East is undergoing a highly complex phase, stating that the current "neither war nor peace" dynamic between the US and Iran is unsustainable.

Speaking on a foreign affairs podcast, Gargash emphasized the need for enduring peace rather than temporary fixes that could lead to renewed conflict within months. He called for multi-level dialogue involving the US, Iran, and Gulf nations, noting that any viable settlement requires confidence-building measures and non-aggression pacts.

Gargash pointed out that the most significant shift in Iran is the absence of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who ruled for four decades before being eliminated at the start of the war. He noted that the Iranian regime is in a transitional period with decentralized decision-making.

According to the Emirati official, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the military establishment are exerting growing influence at the expense of the clerical establishment, accelerating a long-anticipated shift.
