Shooting, family feud, and an illegal resident managing the place: butcher shop in Rahat closed

The police announced today, Sunday, the closure of a butcher shop in the city of Rahat for 15 days, following a shooting incident that took place at the location earlier this month.
The shooting occurred this past weekend, during which gunmen fired into the butcher shop, and the manager, who is an illegal resident, was moderately wounded. This is a conflict between clans in the city that has been ongoing for some time.
Following the incident and as part of the police's activity to prevent escalation in criminal conflicts and shooting incidents at businesses, it was decided to close the premises. Upon the recommendation of professional bodies and in cooperation with the legal advisor's office of the Southern District, the commander of the Rahat police station, Superintendent Yona Yitzhak, signed an administrative closure order for the business for 15 days.
A history of violent conflicts
The shooting at the butcher shop joins a series of violent incidents against the backdrop of conflicts between families in Rahat. Last March, large forces of the police and Border Police raided residential complexes in the city following murders and violent incidents, and arrested 13 suspects involved in shooting incidents. During the operation, an M-16 rifle, two pistols, magazines, and ammunition were seized.
Another incident related to the criminal conflicts in the city occurred last May, when hundreds of police officers and National Guard fighters raided Rahat following the murder of a local youth. The police feared that the murder, which is suspected to have occurred against the backdrop of a criminal conflict between clans, would lead to escalation and further acts of revenge. During the operation, dozens of suspects were arrested and a dedicated task force was established to continue operations in the city.
