Journalist and legal commentator for Channel 12 News, Guy Peleg, filed a police complaint following a severe smear and incitement campaign conducted in recent days on social media and Telegram channels against his young son, Ori. As part of the publications, false information and personal details were disseminated, including the son's age and place of residence, alongside false claims regarding a musical creation of his that allegedly includes insults to state symbols, the Torah, and the religious public.
Following the crossing of the red line and the harm caused to his son, Peleg clarified that he would not let the incident pass. In remarks he published, he emphasized his intention to act by all means at his disposal to expose the identities of those behind the dissemination of the fake news and to prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law.
The harm to Peleg's son sparked a widespread wave of condemnation in the media sector. His colleagues at Channel 12, including Yaron Avraham, Dafna Liel, Nir Dvori, Ishay Levi, and Gideon Oko, as well as his radio co-host Eyal Berkovic, expressed firm support for Peleg. The media figures harshly criticized the targeting of family members and children, defined the action as a cowardly act, and called on law enforcement authorities to act firmly against the inciters.
This event joins a series of threats, protests, and hate speech that Peleg has been dealing with in recent years due to his journalistic work. The complaint filed is currently under review by the Israel Police, which is required to locate the parties behind the dissemination of the false publications.
