The Chinese automotive brand Forthing, a subsidiary of Dongfeng Motor Corporation, unveiled its new TK series at the Paris Motor Show, featuring two electric models designed for the European and international markets: the TK5 and the TK7.

The reveal coincides with the brand's preparation to enter the Israeli market, following an agreement where Auto Chen, part of the Belilios Group, recently secured the official franchise to import and distribute Forthing models in Israel. This presentation is part of the manufacturer's broader international expansion strategy to deepen its presence in Europe, followed by the Middle East, Africa, South America, and Southeast Asia.

TK5: Sporty SUV with 800V Architecture and PHEV Options

The Forthing TK5 is a five-seat SUV combining a sporty design with an advanced cabin tailored for everyday comfort. It will be offered in two powertrain variants: a fully electric BEV featuring an 800-volt high-voltage charging system, and a long-range plug-in hybrid (PHEV).

The electric version is equipped with a 75 kWh battery delivering a range of 500 km, while the PHEV variant features a 39 kWh battery offering a pure electric range of 210 km. A key innovation in the BEV version is the 800V electrical architecture, which supports rapid charging to minimize waiting times at charging stations. Both variants support three-phase home charging.

TK7: Spacious Family SUV with Over 1,000 km Combined Range

Another prominent model showcased in Paris is the TK7, aimed at families and offering flexible seating configurations for six to eight passengers. The vehicle features 37 storage compartments designed to enhance practicality for daily commutes and long journeys.

According to the manufacturer, the electric version of the TK7 offers an electric range of up to 500 km, while the PHEV variant provides a pure electric range of 190 km and a total combined range exceeding 1,000 km under the WLTC standard.

Additionally, the TK7 is equipped with V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) technology, supplying up to 6.6 kW of external power to electronic devices, making it suitable for camping and outdoor recreational activities.

Expanding Beyond China with Planned European Production

Alongside the vehicle debuts, Forthing outlined its strategy to expand production and distribution outside of China. As part of its globalization push, the company has completed the establishment of nine KD assembly plants across Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.

Simultaneously, Forthing is working on establishing a manufacturing plant in Europe, with mass production scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2027. Liu Xiaoping, Deputy General Manager of Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor, stated that the expansion strategy launched in June 2025 focuses on four core areas: product development, local adaptation, distribution channel expansion, and service network enhancement.
