New Details Emerge on Failed Flydubai Cockpit Attack

New details emerged regarding the background of Hamam al-Hamami, the co-pilot who attempted to carry out a terrorist attack aboard a Flydubai flight. A Moroccan airline and a British university have refuted the resume he presented online, raising serious questions about the recruitment process that allowed him to enter the cockpit.

The airline Royal Air Maroc refuted the claims made by the Omani terrorist Hamam al-Hamami. Company management told the Associated Press that al-Hamami completed a three-month theoretical training period in 2025 as part of a screening process, but his candidacy was rejected and he was not hired. These statements directly contradict the terrorist's LinkedIn profile, where he claimed to have worked for the Moroccan company from June 2025 until January 2026.

Simultaneously, it turns out that al-Hamami's academic training also raises questions. A spokesperson for Buckinghamshire New University in England, Keith Coles, noted in a conversation with the AP that al-Hamami took an online course in aviation management at the institution, but clarified that the terrorist "did not undergo any flight training."

Radicalization Signs Ignored Before Flydubai Hiring

These revelations add to the warning signs that existed regarding al-Hamami even before he was hired by Flydubai. He previously worked as a trainee co-pilot at Oman Air, but was grounded after extremist materials were found in his possession and he was transferred to an administrative role. Sources familiar with the details stated that he was influenced by extremist ideas during a stay in Syria.

On the day of the attack, he even published videos on social media of Israeli airline planes in Dubai alongside photos of al-Qaeda leaders, and in the past he shared misogynistic content speaking out against working women. The UAE Attorney General officially determined that the incident on the flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv was a terrorist attack attempt.
