Fire in a safe room on the fourth floor: fire in a high-rise building in Haifa
Firefighters focused their efforts on extinguishing the source of the fire in the apartment and ventilating the heavy smoke that had accumulated on the building's floors, in full cooperation with the police and medical services. There were no casualties, but significant damage was caused, and the teams are continuing final extinguishing operations before concluding their activity at the scene.
Fire and rescue teams from the Haifa station, with district assistance from the Krayot and Hadera stations, brought under control this evening, Wednesday, a fire that broke out in a high-rise building on Shunit Street in Haifa.
The teams arrived at the scene with reinforced forces and focused their efforts on extinguishing the source of the fire, which broke out inside a safe room (MAMAD) on the fourth floor. Parallel to the extinguishing operations, firefighters conducted extensive searches to locate trapped individuals and worked to clear the heavy smoke that had accumulated in a large part of the structure.
After thorough searches in the building, it was determined that there were no trapped individuals and no casualties were reported, but significant property damage was caused. During the searches in the apartment, two cats were found dead.
The firefighting forces worked at the scene in cooperation with the Israel Police and medical services to ensure the safety of all the building's residents. The teams remained at the scene to complete final extinguishing operations, and a fire investigator from the Haifa station is currently examining several leads to determine the circumstances that led to the outbreak of the fire.
