Everton Defeats Newcastle 1-0 Away to Climb Seventh in Premier League
Everton defeated Newcastle United 1-0 away thanks to a Thierno Barry strike, climbing to seventh in the Premier League standings and condemning the hosts to their second straight home loss.

Everton secured a crucial 1-0 away victory against Newcastle United at St James' Park, just four days after eliminating them from the League Cup with a 3-1 home win. Following a scoreless first half with no shots on target from either side, the Toffees broke the deadlock in the 49th minute when Thierno Barry slotted home from close range after Lukáš Horníček poorly parried a shot from Tyrique George.
The French forward, who also scored against the Magpies on Thursday shortly before discovering his home had been burglarized, has now netted four of his side's nine league goals this season. The victory propelled Everton up to seventh place in the Premier League table, while dropping Newcastle down to 13th following their second consecutive home defeat. The hosts also finished the match with ten men after substitute Jacob Ramsey was sent off in stoppage time following a second yellow card.
In other European football action, Deportivo La Coruña ended a six-match winless streak by defeating Osasuna 2-1, sparked by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's return from injury. Meanwhile, in Ligue 1, Lorient suffered a 2-0 home defeat to Brest, allowing their opponents to leapfrog them into 10th place in the standings.
