Eti Craif attacks the senior official in the 'sex for appointment' affair: "He is scared to death now"
In an interview to be broadcast tonight on Reshet 13, Craif recalls complex moments with powerful people and tells of her most difficult experience with a high-ranking individual.
Eti Craif, born in 1974, is a lawyer, lecturer, author, and former magistrate court judge, who gained widespread public exposure following her involvement in a high-profile affair known as "sex for appointment." She began her professional path with about 15 years of service in the Israel Police, while simultaneously completing her law studies and a master's degree. In 2016, she reached a professional peak when she was appointed to serve as a judge at the Magistrate Court in Netanya. Today, Craif works as an independent lawyer, lecturer, and author, and maintains a presence on her Instagram page.
The storm that shook the legal system erupted in 2019 with the opening of a criminal investigation in which the suspicion arose that Craif was promoted to the judicial position in exchange for an intimate relationship with the then-head of the Israel Bar Association, Efi Nave. The central suspicions focused on sexual bribery and obstruction of justice following the deletion of messages on her part. Craif, for her part, claimed throughout the process that the deletion of the correspondence was intended solely to protect the privacy of senior public figures, and not out of an intention to obstruct the investigation. The legal drama reached its conclusion in March 2021, when the State Attorney's Office decided to close the criminal case against Craif and Nave, and at the same time, Craif resigned permanently from the bench.
The media peak reaches another high in an interview taking place today (Thursday) with her on the program "Assenheim" on Reshet 13, in which she will reveal further details about the deletion of the correspondence in real-time in front of political figures and senior public officials. As part of the tense conversation, Craif shared complex moments and revealed a glimpse of the pressures and situations she encountered in front of powerful people. Omri Assenheim asked her, "What was your most difficult experience in these areas?"
"That you are in a certain place, you say 'no', and it... and the 'no' is as if you didn't say 'no'. And you say 'I don't want to', and it... and it... it's unpleasant. It's unpleasant, especially when it's a person with status and it, it's unpleasant."
When Assenheim asked her, "Whoever is watching us now... knows it's him?" she replied, "Scared to death. Scared to death? Scared to death."
