Embarrassment on Air or a Planned Ambush? The Truth Behind the Bennett Report
A video featuring a Channel 14 reporter and a recruit who identified Naftali Bennett as a government official has sparked debate. Evidence suggests the incident may have been staged by a Yesh Atid activist.
A planned ambush? On Wednesday morning, a video was circulated of our correspondent Oranit Poran-Swissa, who was accompanying IDF recruits. During the interviews, one of the recruits shared: "Bennett also came, it really made us and him happy. It felt good to us that someone from the government came."
Poran-Swissa questioned whether his presence really made them happy and noted that "Naftali Bennett is not from the government." In left-wing social media circles, users were quick to share the video and mock the interviewee for "embarrassing" the Channel 14 reporter.
However, the question now arises whether this was a planned ambush by a Yesh Atid party activist who was present near the reporter. Footage that he himself uploaded to social media proves that he was prepared in advance with a camera, possibly to capture exactly the moment when the recruits would mention Bennett's arrival. In response to the video, our correspondent Poran-Swissa stated:
"Maybe they should prepare them a little better."
In a post uploaded by the party activist who filmed the video from the side, he was quick to leverage the "embarrassment" on live broadcast and wrote:
"This is the video from my point of view. Understand the magnitude of the event: the artillery recruits who are about to enlist did not understand why Channel 14 is against Bennett, because they love him. The young generation consumes its content and news differently, and the poison of Channel 14 simply does not reach it. And these young people are with Bennett and the correction bloc; this will not appear in any poll, but only on election day."
