Elon Musk's Net Worth Climbs Back Above $1 Trillion Following Strong Market Surge
Elon Musk's net worth has climbed back above the $1 trillion threshold, reaching $1.04 trillion following a single-day surge of $65 billion driven by SpaceX and Tesla gains.

Elon Musk has returned to an exclusive club with only one member. According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Musk's net worth climbed to approximately $1.04 trillion over the weekend, after surging by about $65 billion in a single day. This marks the first time in roughly three months that his fortune has crossed back above the symbolic $1.04 trillion threshold.
Musk first became the history's first person to reach such a valuation in June, following the historic IPO of SpaceX. However, the celebration was short-lived. The aerospace company's stock fell during the summer, dragging his personal valuation down with it. At one point, more than $600 billion was wiped out from his peak fortune, but the tide has turned once again.
Two Companies, Nearly a Trillion Dollars
To understand how an individual can gain $65 billion in a single day, one must remember that this wealth is primarily "on paper." More than 98% of Musk's net worth is attributed to his holdings in SpaceX and Tesla. When company valuations rise, the calculated value of his shares surges right along with them. This does not mean $65 billion was deposited into his bank account.
Since early October, SpaceX stock has jumped by about 13%, while Tesla shares have climbed by 6.7%. This combination was enough to push Musk back over the milestone.
SpaceX is currently the most critical asset in calculating his wealth. The company went public in June in the largest IPO in history, raising approximately $86 billion. Following a dizzying debut, the stock experienced a sharp correction over the summer, but has recently resumed its upward trajectory.
Tesla Returns to Delivering Vehicles
Tesla also gave Musk a reason to smile. The company delivered 486,532 vehicles in the third quarter, significantly outperforming analysts' forecasts of about 456,900. The figure has reignited expectations that Tesla could return to annual sales growth this year, following two consecutive years of declines.
The recovery was driven in part by Europe, where sales improved, while investors continue to price Tesla well beyond its traditional automotive business.
The narrative Musk is selling to Wall Street includes autonomous driving, robotaxis, humanoid robots, and artificial intelligence. Tesla is already operating the Cybercab in its Texas robotaxi fleet, and its Full Self-Driving software has received regulatory approvals in several European nations.
The World's Greatest and Most Volatile Wealth
The trillion-dollar figure sounds almost incomprehensible, but Musk's story illustrates just how volatile such immense wealth can be.
In June, Forbes estimated his peak fortune at approximately $1.45 trillion. Less than a month later, it plummeted below $900 billion, primarily driven by the sell-off in SpaceX.
Now, he is back above a trillion. In this sense, the story is not just about the world's richest man; it also highlights current market dynamics where investors continue to assign staggering valuations to companies promising to lead the next generation of transportation, space exploration, and artificial intelligence. With Musk holding massive stakes in two such powerhouses, just a few strong trading days are enough to generate or erase fortunes that rival the annual budgets of entire nations.
