Electricity bills are one of the heaviest fixed household expenses in Israel, and recent claims on social media suggest unexpected spikes in payments. The consumer page "HaMevakerim" posted a video raising concerns over unusually high utility bills, urging the public to share their costs and demand explanations from the Israel Electric Corporation. "It is completely unclear what is happening at the Electric Corporation, we receive endless messages. People are not complaining for nothing," the speaker stated in the video.

The speaker claims that reports indicate significant discrepancies, noting, "There are unexplained anomalies; people are paying 1,000 to 2,000 NIS more than the average." He shares a personal example, stating he pays 1,700 NIS for a two-month billing cycle for a couple's apartment, while a friend reported a 2,200 NIS bill.

HaMevakerim aims to turn individual complaints into a broader public campaign, encouraging followers to comment and share their bills to pressure the utility provider. At this stage, these are claims presented in the video without a formal determination of billing errors.

Experts note that a bill total alone is insufficient to prove a billing error, as consumers must compare billing periods and actual electricity consumption. According to the Israel Consumer Council guide, bills indicate the type of meter reading, and unread meters may result in estimated consumption charges. The Israel Electric Corporation has not yet responded to the video.
