El Al Miami Flight Turns Back to Tel Aviv Over Technical Glitch
An El Al flight from Tel Aviv to Miami returned to Israel after six hours in the air due to a technical issue. Passengers will receive a refund or alternative flight.
An El Al flight from Tel Aviv to Miami was forced to turn back to Israel due to a technical malfunction after more than six hours in the air. Flight LY017 changed course mid-air, and passengers are expected to spend over ten hours total on the aircraft before landing back at its departure point without reaching their original destination.
El Al stated that upon arrival in Israel, passengers will be offered either an alternative flight to Miami or a full refund. The airline apologized for the inconvenience and emphasized that safety and security remain its top priority.
The incident occurred roughly a day after an Israir chartered flight also had to return to Ben Gurion Airport due to a mechanical issue, touching down after approximately 40 minutes in the air.
