Eitan Horn, who was kidnapped to the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, from his home in Kibbutz Nir Oz during the Hamas terrorist attack and returned on October 13, 2025, has spoken out about the severe lack of financial and state support for returned hostages.

Revelations from Captivity and Post-Release Struggles

In a recent interview, Horn shared harrowing details of his abduction and the psychological torment he endured. He recounted the moment militants breached his home, shouting "Allahu Akbar" and opening fire. Reflecting on the aftermath of his release, Horn expressed deep frustration over having to immediately navigate bureaucratic hurdles regarding his disability status.

Inadequate State Support

Addressing the economic response from the government, Horn stated: "We are not receiving enough. First of all, we are recognized as 50 percent disabled, and I went through a medical committee and received 100 percent temporary. In another years these eight thousand will drop to three and a half, maybe another 2000 shekels." He criticized the state for abandoning survivors even after their return, noting that he had to write letters to the National Insurance Institute while still recovering at Ichilov Hospital.

"From the 120 Knesset members who sat in these four years, a captive survivor, two years in captivity, writing a letter on why to be 100 percent disabled? You are talking to me about money? Does that sound logical to anyone? They abandoned me, and they continue to abandon me," Horn said.

Fellow captivity survivor Rom Breslavsky voiced his support for Horn on X, writing: "The guy is speaking from the bottom of his heart. Please listen to him."
