Yashar! party leader Gadi Eisenkot fiercely criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu following remarks by former military secretary Avi Gil, accusing Netanyahu of evading responsibility for the October 7 disaster and demanding his resignation.
Eisenkot Slams Netanyahu Over October 7 Warnings
Leader of the Yashar! party, Gadi Eisenkot, harshly criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday, following explosive remarks by Major General (res.) Avi Gil, Netanyahu's former military secretary, in an interview with Israel Hayom.
Eisenkot accused Netanyahu of spreading falsehoods and attempting to shirk responsibility for the October 7 disaster, urging him to immediately resign from public life.
"Netanyahu's culture of lies is tearing Israel apart and endangering it," Eisenkot wrote on X. "While Israel's government sent brave and dedicated soldiers into battle, families entrusted their security and their children's fate into his hands. Netanyahu misled, deceived, and betrayed the trust of an entire nation."
Accusations of Alternative Reality and Conspiracy
Eisenkot claimed that Netanyahu ignored repeated warnings prior to the massacre and that on the morning of October 7, while envelope-region residents fought for their lives, the prime minister's circle focused on crafting an alternative reality to absolve him of blame.
Furthermore, Eisenkot strongly condemned the circulation of treason conspiracy theories surrounding the events, calling it an extreme lack of fitness for office.
Praise for Avi Gil and Call for Inquiry
Eisenkot praised Avi Gil for coming forward with his testimony, noting that in the absence of a state commission of inquiry and amidst dangerous conspiracy theories emanating from the Prime Minister's Office, silence is not an option.
He pledged to establish a formal state commission of inquiry to uncover the full truth and ensure accountability for the security of Israel.
