EirGrid Energy, an Israeli energy company traded on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange since 2007, announced on Wednesday the appointment of businessman Shahar Mahat as a member of its board of directors. The company specializes in renewable energy, energy efficiency, underground compressed air energy storage, and hydrogen storage development.

Alongside his board duties, Mahat plans to take an active role in advancing the company's business, leveraging his entrepreneurial experience, international market knowledge, and connections with developers and investors. Mahat is an experienced entrepreneur and executive in business development, investment leadership, and project promotion in Israel and Europe.

As part of his activities at Hagag Europe, where he is a co-owner and director, he managed business development, capital fundraising, and operations expansion in Romania across residential, commercial, and hospitality sectors. Maj. Gen. (Res.) Yiftach Ron-Tal, Chairman of EirEnergy, welcomed the appointment, noting that Mahat's entrepreneurial vision and management experience will strengthen the board.

Tal Raz, CEO of EirEnergy, added that Mahat's practical experience in building businesses and forming partnerships will help the group expand its growth sources. EirEnergy recently signed an offer to acquire full rights in the FLUX wind project, an operational 7.84-megawatt wind farm in Poland connected to the grid since 2015, valued at approximately 13.5 million euros (about 46 million NIS).
