Ehud Banai hits out at the government: "I have no problem hugging Mansour Abbas"
The renowned singer sharply criticized propaganda videos distributed in recent days, in which parties, instead of promoting themselves, are busy tearing others down. "Shocking videos," he said, adding that whoever distributed them should be ashamed.
Singer and songwriter Ehud Banai does not often express himself politically in public, but over the weekend, in an unusual manner, he sharply attacked the political propaganda videos being distributed in recent days across the web.
As part of his program "Ze HaMakom" ("This is the Place") on Army Radio (Galei Tzahal), he addressed the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to create divisive content. He specifically attacked the video by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sending a direct message to former IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot, who heads the "Yashar!" party, as well as the video by the "Religious Zionism" party in which they attack Knesset member Gilad Kariv from "The Democrats" party.
"This week, two propaganda videos were released that are shocking in their baseless hatred under the auspices of AI. In one of them, a Reform rabbi is filmed with a pig and called 'doing a Bar Mitzvah for dogs', and this is two days before Tisha B'Av, by a party that still calls itself a religious party," Banai began his remarks on the broadcast.
"In the second video, the former Chief of Staff runs towards a guy, maybe his son who was killed, but then instead of hugging him - he hugs Mansour Abbas. Afterwards, the creator of the video still dares to talk about unity," he added with anger.
"He who believes does not need to be afraid," Banai concluded the subject with a line from the well-known song. "The truth is that I completely believe and yet I am afraid. And by the way, I have no problem at all hugging Mansour Abbas," he added, concluding the subject.
