Ed Sheeran is facing massive protests and a dramatic plunge in ticket prices ahead of his concert tonight following the removal of pro-Palestinian rapper Macklemore from his tour's opening acts. Large police forces have been deployed at the venue as pro-Palestinian demonstrations are expected.

Reports in the UK indicate that Sheeran has yet to find a new opening act, as four other supporting acts reportedly withdrew in solidarity with Macklemore. Questions remain over how the British singer plans to proceed with the Saturday evening performance.

The controversy has also hit the singer financially. Scalper ticket prices for the show plummeted from $123 earlier in the week to just $54 this morning—marking a nearly 60% drop.

After the uproar over the dismissal, Sheeran denied that he was personally behind the decision to drop Macklemore. Nevertheless, the singer has become a target for boycott calls from fans accusing him of caving to pressure as observers in his homeland question how he will navigate the crisis.
