American video game giant Electronic Arts (EA) confirmed that a graphical bug in its popular soccer title, EA Sports FC 27, causes female players and coaches to appear without official kits during cinematic cutscenes. The company stated it has identified the root cause and promised to release a fix in an upcoming update, according to a report in The New York Times.
Technical Safeguards and Reactions
"We are aware of an issue in the game that may cause a coach or player's outfit not to display correctly during certain cutscenes," the company stated. EA quickly clarified that "all basic character models in the games include undergarments by default as a standard technical safeguard," a mechanism designed to ensure characters remain covered if a technical failure prevents gear and uniform loading, as reported by Expressen.
Gamers shared video clips from pre- and post-match scenes, goal celebrations, and locker room moments showing female players wearing only black undergarments. Reports were notably frequent among teams from the English Women's Super League (WSL) and the top French league. In another viral video, a female coach appeared wearing only undergarments while shaking the opposing coach's hand at the final whistle. Many gamers noted no similar issue occurred with male teams.
