Developments in the investigation of the murder in Netivot: suspect released - police appealed

The young man arrested shortly after the murder of Osher Kadoshim in Netivot was at the scene of the crime, and the police suspected his involvement in the murder, though not that he was the one who carried out the shooting. Today, Monday, after he had been held in custody as part of the investigation, the Magistrate's Court in Be'er Sheva determined that he could be released. The police oppose the decision and have transferred the struggle over his continued detention to the next court instance.

Judge Yoram Broza ordered the release of the suspect, but the police filed an appeal against the decision. As a result, the release was delayed and the young man will remain in custody until the appeal hearing is held.

The suspect's defense attorney, Eyal Avital, stated: "From the first moment I began to represent the suspect, it was completely clear to me that my client is innocent of any guilt. He was a witness to the event, got caught up in the difficult situation, and nothing more. The police are dealing in guesses, not suspicions."

Avital also referred to the court's decision, saying: "Judge Yoram Broza, who ordered his release, is a smart and honest judge who understood from the first moment that he is not connected to anything." The suspect will remain in custody until a decision is made on the appeal filed by the police, while the murder investigation continues.
