A Dutch language course linked to a state naturalization process has sparked outrage after an Israeli citizen was rejected for refusing to agree that a genocide is taking place in the Gaza Strip. The incident was brought to light by CIDI, a Dutch organization dedicated to combating antisemitism and supporting Israel, which highlighted the case of an Israeli resident identified only as Y.

According to the organization, Y. applied for the government-sponsored language program as part of his integration process. During the admission stage, he was told that acknowledging a genocide in Gaza was a mandatory prerequisite for participation in the course.

Y. responded by stating that the claim was not a proven fact and emphasized that any allegations of war crimes should be thoroughly investigated with responsible parties brought to justice. The instructor rejected his application on the grounds that he did not hold the prescribed political viewpoint.

CIDI condemned the decision as a painful example of the realities faced by Israelis and Jews in the Netherlands. The organization announced its intention to file a formal complaint with the Netherlands Institute for Human Rights.
