From the field to the classroom: A new agricultural boarding school will open near the Lebanese border

A new agricultural boarding school of the "Adam Ve'Adama" network, from the "Hashomer Hahadash" organization, will open in the upcoming school year at Kibbutz Matzuva in the Mateh Asher Regional Council, near the Lebanese border.

The program will operate in a boarding school format and will combine studies for a matriculation certificate, preparation for service in the IDF, and agricultural work, during which students will assist farmers in the communities along the Lebanese border. The establishment of the boarding school comes nearly three years after the outbreak of the Iron Swords War, and the organization notes that it is intended, among other things, to strengthen agricultural activity, food security, and civilian presence in the region.

The boarding school is being established in partnership with "Ruach Hagalil," founded by Raya Strauss, and with other partners from Israel and abroad, and will operate under the supervision of the Ministry of Education and the Administration for Settlement Education.

The upcoming school year in Matzuva will be opened by students and staff members who chose to move to the North and live near the Lebanese border. Alongside their studies and life at the boarding school, they will be integrated into agricultural work in the region.

At the same time, the network's agricultural boarding school at Kibbutz Yiron in the Upper Galilee will open its second school year. The residents of Yiron were evacuated during the war, and the boarding school was established there about a year ago with the goal of assisting agriculture and farmers in the region, strengthening civilian presence, and maintaining community activity with the residents of the area.

The boarding school in Yiron was established in partnership with "Habayta. Hozrim Lagalil," alongside partners from Israel and abroad, and it also operates under the supervision of the Ministry of Education and the Administration for Settlement Education.

In total, the "Adam Ve'Adama" network from "Hashomer Hahadash" operates eight educational-agricultural schools with boarding conditions across the country, including in the Arava, the Gaza Envelope, Ramat Hanegev, the Golan, and the Upper Galilee.

The daily routine of the network's students begins at five o'clock in the morning with agricultural work in the field. Afterward, they move on to classroom studies in preparation for a full matriculation certificate, and in the hours after school, they participate in activities dealing with Zionism, Jewish identity, life skills, preparation for life and meaningful service, trips across the country, and participation in national missions.
