Determined on the ground: Civilians arrested again overnight on the Syrian Hermon

A group of activists from the "Halutzei HaBashan" movement were arrested again tonight (Tuesday) near an improvised tent they set up at the 'Tal Hermon' point. Over the past month, the movement's activists have arrived at the site many times in an attempt to establish a Jewish foothold in the area, and have been evacuated and arrested several times by security forces.

Before their arrest, the activists stated that Jewish settlement is the only way to ensure control of the area, and that the only way to achieve this is by insisting on presence on the ground. According to them:

"Arrests and bullying will not stop us. It is better to make the effort now, so that in a few years soldiers will not die here like they died in southern Lebanon during the days of Shamir and Peres."

The "Halutzei HaBashan" movement stated: "The IDF Spokesperson's campaign continues to attack in order to hide the real story. The real story is that if these teenagers and young people cross the border again and again, the security method is not proving itself. Instead of fences and cameras, the space needs to be filled with civilian presence."
