Details and photos leaked for Google's competitor to Apple's AirTag
As the peak tourist season approaches, images and specifications of the upcoming Google Pixel Tag have leaked. The device is set to compete with Apple's AirTag and Samsung's SmartTag2.
The tourist season is at its peak, and alongside their passport, many travelers pack another essential item: a tracking tag. Given how often airlines and airport staff misplace luggage, this is a practical choice. Currently, the market is primarily divided between Apple's AirTag and Samsung's SmartTag2, but it seems a new alternative from Google is on the horizon.
The website 9to5Google has obtained an image of a new, unannounced product called the Google Pixel Tag. This tracking tag is designed to compete with the sea of existing devices on the market. The new tag is expected to support Android's Find Hub network, though specific features that might differentiate it from competitors remain unknown.
Interestingly, the tag appeared on a German website with a price tag of 25.60 euros under the catalog number GA12506-WW. The page also revealed that the color is named "Fog Light." The device was spotted on other European websites as well, which have since removed the pages. According to those listings, the tag is described as "compact, lightweight, and durable," and it comes equipped with a speaker to help users locate it. Unfortunately, it lacks a hole for attachment, unlike the Samsung tags.

This is not the first report regarding a tracking tag from Google. In fact, rumors surfaced as early as the beginning of 2023, when it was revealed that Google was developing a tracker under the codename "Grogu."
As for the release date, nothing is confirmed. However, given the timing of the leak, we anticipate an announcement on August 12, during the launch event for the Pixel 11 series.
