Drama in Vietnam: Israeli tourist refused to pay for a photo at a cafe and is facing backlash online
An Israeli tourist refused to pay a nominal fee for a photo in a transparent kayak at a popular cafe in Ho Chi Minh City, demanded that staff and passersby take her picture for free, and claimed that the refusal to help her was due to her Israeli identity. The entire incident was documented and led to a sharp attack on social media: "The lack of shame, that's what always surprises me."
An Israeli tourist who arrived last week at a popular cafe in Vietnam refused to pay for a photo experience at the site, was documented demanding that staff and passersby take her picture, and is now facing a wave of sharp criticism on social media. The incident occurred at a well-known cafe in Ho Chi Minh City, a place famous for a pool full of hydrangeas, in which there is a transparent kayak. Visitors are invited to sit inside the kayak and take particularly photogenic pictures for only a nominal fee.
However, in a video that went online and quickly went viral, the Israeli tourist is seen sitting inside the kayak in the center of the pool, demanding that they take her picture but clarifying that she has no intention of paying.
"Excuse me. Excuse me? Hello? Can you take a picture of me please?", the woman is heard asking an employee of the place in the documentation.
When the employee tried to explain the rules to her, she demanded again: "You don't understand. Can you take a picture? Can you take a picture? Can you take a picture of me?". The employee clarified to her firmly: "You can pay here", but the tourist was quick to reply to him: "I don't want to pay".
The heated argument immediately attracted the attention of other visitors who were waiting around the pool. "No one wants to take your picture", one of those present at the place shouted at her, and added: "Because we all pay here". Despite the explicit refusal and the reactions of those around, the tourist continued to approach people who were standing around the pool and asked them to take her picture. When she realized she was hitting a brick wall, she decided to add her national identity to the fire. "Why don't you want to help me? Because I'm from Israel?", she asked. The cafe employee, who already looked exhausted by the repeated demands, replied to her with irony: "Yes. You know what, right".
The documentation was quickly distributed on social media and drew harsh reactions against the conduct of the Israeli tourist, with many accusing her of disrespecting local rules. "The lack of shame, that's what always surprises me. Any other person would feel embarrassed when they are pointed out for not paying", wrote one of the surfers. Another surfer wondered about the attempt to save such a small amount: "How stingy do you have to be in order not to pay for a picture in Vietnam, of all places?!". Another added: "Skipping the purchase of a ticket and then treating the staff like personal assistants is wild arrogance".
