The prolonged war in the north has created an unprecedented and complex reality for residents and especially for businesses, many of which were forced to shut their doors, while others experienced severe revenue drops, sharp activity reductions, and ongoing cash flow difficulties—all alongside resident departures, disruption of the social fabric, and weakened economic and community resilience.

As part of Discount Bank's commitment to society and the community, and in a continuous effort to assist in the rehabilitation and growth of the north, the bank announced today (Tuesday) at the 'Manara 2026 Conference', held in partnership with the Minrav Group, the establishment of 'Green North – A Small Business Loan Fund in the North'.

Discount Bank's dedicated fund, totaling 300 million shekels, will provide tailored financing and credit solutions aimed at addressing immediate local challenges and strengthening economic activity in the region.

Under the fund, small businesses will be able to receive a loan of up to 1 million shekels on preferential terms, without the need to post collateral (owner guarantee only). The loan will be granted at a preferential interest rate ranging from Prime + 0.25% to Prime + 1.5% for a term of up to 7 years (84 months), including a grace period of up to 6 months. Applications can be submitted until December 31, 2026. (Additional details are available on the bank's website).

Asaf Eldar, Executive Vice President and Head of the Banking Division at Discount: 'The north requires a broad perspective that combines economic, community, and personal resilience. We believe in the strength of the residents and business owners in the north and are confident that the tools the fund provides will serve as a significant engine for renewed growth and the advancement of the entire region. The goal of the Green North fund is not only to provide credit, but to serve as a true and long-term partnership in rehabilitation and accelerated renewed growth.'
