Footage released: The moment a vehicle exploded in Afula, killing Ovnach Dinko
The explosion occurred in Afula last May. The victim was evacuated in critical condition to HaEmek Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. An indictment is set to be filed against a 38-year-old resident of Migdal HaEmek.
The Israel Police have released new footage showing the moment of the explosion that took place in Afula last May. The video captures the vehicle igniting within seconds, followed by a blast wave clearly visible on camera.
Following an investigation by the Central Unit (YAMAR) of the Amakim region, an indictment will be filed against a resident of Migdal HaEmek accused of murdering Ovnach Dinko by detonating an explosive device.
After the explosion, Dinko was evacuated in critical condition to HaEmek Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Following a situational assessment by Northern District Commander Superintendent Meir Eliyahu, the case was transferred to YAMAR Amakim for further investigation.
Investigators carried out rapid operations, leading to the arrest of the 38-year-old suspect within hours. Authorities also seized the operational vehicle, which was found to be stolen and fitted with license plates taken from an identical car.
Evidence indicates that the suspect began his preparations approximately 8 hours before the explosion, leaving the Tivon area to scout the scene and approach routes. The Northern District Attorney's Office, represented by attorneys Yaara Barzilai Cohen and Roi Alfasi, will file the indictment at the District Court in Nof HaGalil-Nazareth.
