Turkish Fan Names Newborn After Israeli Footballer Dia Saba
Israeli footballer Dia Saba is making waves at Turkish club Amedspor, inspiring a fan to name a newborn after him following a stellar start to the season.

Dia Saba captured the hearts of Amedspor fans last season when he helped the club reach the Turkish top flight for the first time in its history. This admiration has only grown at the start of the current campaign, as the team associated with Turkey's Kurdish minority claimed first place in the table after six matchdays.
This devotion has now resulted in an extraordinary gesture, with a fan naming his newborn baby after the Israeli player—"Sharwan Dia Saba." Amedspor has enjoyed a dream start to its debut season in Turkey's top division, winning four of its first six games, including a thrilling 3-2 victory over powerhouse Beşiktaş, where Saba scored the second goal with a signature brilliant finish. The Israeli player currently has three goals to his name this season.
Saba's salary stands at 1.3 million euros per season, reaching 1.5 million euros with various bonuses, making him one of the highest-earning Israeli players abroad. With an automatic renewal clause, Saba is set to remain under the same financial terms unless upgraded based on his performance by the end of the season. As reported by Ynet and Yedioth Ahronoth, the Israel Football Association agreed with Saba that he would not be included in the national team squad due to the fact that he plays in the Turkish league, given that under the current political climate, it is impossible for Saba to wear the national team uniform.
