Second Time in a Week: Israeli Flag Vandalized at IDF Soldier's Grave

An outrageous incident in the north: hikers in the Banias stream area, near Kibbutz Sde Nehemia, tore down today, Tuesday, an Israeli flag that had been placed next to the grave of Staff Sergeant Regev Amar, who fell on October 7 in the battle for Kibbutz Kissufim. According to the family, this is the second time in just one week that the flags surrounding the grave have been vandalized.
His mother, Gilanit, stated:
"It is sad to discover that they vandalized the Israeli flags at Regev's grave. Woe to us, woe to those who vandalize the Israeli flag on the grave of an IDF soldier who gave his life for the State of Israel."
She further added: "We chose to bury our Regev as close as possible to the stream — the place that was his favorite, and where he experienced so many memories. This is the second time this week that the flags have been vandalized. My heart is broken today."
Staff Sergeant Amar, who fell at the age of 20, was born in the United States and was the middle child among his sisters. Before his enlistment, he went on a year of service as a tour guide for the Society for the Protection of Nature in Ein Gedi and the Arava. With the outbreak of the attack on October 7, Regev was deployed with his company from a squad commanders' course to the Gaza envelope. On their way, the soldiers eliminated terrorist squads and rescued a young woman who had been kidnapped in a pickup truck.
Upon arriving at the defensive battle in Kibbutz Kissufim, Regev charged and was severely wounded in his lower body. When he realized the severity of his condition, he forbade his friends from approaching and risking themselves to rescue him. With composure and supreme heroism, he continued to manage the battle while mortally wounded, until he fell from a grenade blast after having managed to say "Shema Yisrael" with his friends.
Regev, who was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant after his death, was laid to rest at the cemetery in Sde Nehemia, leaving behind his parents and two sisters.
